This week we continue the work from last week. Last week, we asked the professor about our big picture page and thesis statement. Our thesis does not work very well, and the professor suggested us to do some validation which could help us to further refine our thesis. Therefore, this week we did the “Leave-one-out cross validation” on the big picture page with 5 predictors (GDP (nominal or real), income per capita in current dollars, real median income, unemployment rates and Gini coefficient) and discussed some potential directions to build our thesis. We plan to continue to work on our story on the big picture page during the next weeks.
In addition, we keep updating our website. We almost complete the data page and we are still working on the analysis page due to cross validation. On the data page, we move our data cleaning code into load_and_clean R file and fill the page information as requested.
When it comes to our plan, we will make FlexDashboard so that we can select year and variable displayed on the x and y axis. In addition, we will continue to update the big picture and analysis page in the future.
